Do you offer 24-hour emergency electrical service?
Yes. Our office line (979) 543-7887 runs Monday–Friday 7am–4pm, and our 24-hour emergency line (979) 616-1608 is answered around the clock, seven days a week. For power loss, sparking, burning smells, oilfield outages, or anything unsafe, call the 24-hour line right away.
What areas does SCI Electrical serve?
We're based in El Campo and work throughout South Texas — including Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Wharton, Bay City, and Victoria. There's no mileage charge within a 25-mile radius of El Campo. Beyond that, mileage is billed at $1.80 per mile.
How much do you charge?
Standard published rates are $70/hr for an electrician and $40/hr for a helper, with a 3-hour minimum on every job. Welding is $125/hr. We also rent generators ($275/day) and light towers ($125/day), and run a bucket truck ($400/day) and backhoe ($75/hr). Oilfield and specialty work is quoted per project. Do you handle oilfield electrical work?
Absolutely — oilfield electrical is one of our specialties. We install and service power for tank batteries, pumps, motor controls, light plants, and lease equipment across the South Texas oil patch, and we keep crews available for emergency outages.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. SCI Electrical Services is a licensed Texas electrical contractor (TDLR EC #26584), BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, and carries insurance. Owner Sammy Cordero has run the company since 2008.
Is there a minimum charge for small jobs?
We have a 3-hour minimum on every job we perform, residential or commercial. No job is too big or too small — but the 3-hour minimum covers the cost of getting a licensed crew and equipment to your location.
What are your after-hours rates?
After-hours service starts after 3pm, and the electrician and helper are billed at the overtime rate during that window. Electrician OT is $187.50/hr and helper OT is $112.50/hr. Call ahead and we'll explain exactly what to expect.
Do you do residential work, or only commercial and oilfield?
All three. We wire new homes, upgrade panels and meter loops, install generators and EV chargers, troubleshoot outages, and handle remodels and add-ons — alongside our commercial and oilfield work.
